Dodge Graham Truck
The 1927 Dodge Graham Truck still stands at the filling station in front of the Boone Store, as if waiting for its next journey. In front of it are the Shell Visible Gas Pumps — the kind where the petrol was first pumped by hand into a glass cylinder so that the customer could see what they were buying. Clean, clear, no water. An invention for suspicious times.
In the background, the fire station. This scene tells the story of Bodie’s twilight years: the car had replaced the horse, modernity had arrived — but the town itself was already history.
